BELOVED SINGER-SONGWRITER ALICE PEACOCK HITS THE ROAD
PEACOCK’S ROCK FOR READING NON-PROFIT FIGHTS ILLITERACY
March 5, 2007 (New York, NY) – Alice Peacock will set out from her
native Chicago for a spring tour that will range from the Rockies to the South and through to the East Coast.
She’s become widely known for her warm, comforting songwriting
and pristine, personal vocals. Her dedicated fanbase has come to
expect not just entertainment for its sake, but a kind of homecoming
in song, a private calm, an old friend offering respite and reassurance.
Alice has deepened the relationship with her fans by giving back
to the community via her Rock for Reading program. Founded by Alice,
the organization strives to fight the rising trend of illiteracy
and renew interest in reading. Rock for Reading has raised awareness,
funds and tools through a series of benefit concerts, book fairs
and tutoring sessions.
Her new album Who I Am was recorded live to tape at Hollywood’s
Sound Factory, rather than being built piecemeal on a computer,
as many albums are made these days. Alice and the band found that
this lent an intimacy and immediacy to the record that you just
can’t fake: “There’s an authenticity to the performances
that people have really responded to,” she says.
Be sure to catch her out on the road!
