BROOKLYN'S KEVIN DEVINE BREAKS OUT THE ANTI-FREEZE
SONGWRITER TO SERVE HOT CHOCOLATE ON WINTER TOURDATES
January 4, 2008 (New York, NY).ÊThe past year has been a schizophrenic one for Brooklyn-based Kevin Devine. ÊHe released "Put Your Ghost to Rest" (Capitol Records), produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith, The Vines), and found himself the casualty of corporate consolidation. Newly liberated, Kevin was the fortunate recipient of more work than he could imagine, spending the year headlining and supporting Êtours in the US, UK and Europe with Brand New, Annuals, Manchester Orchestra, Jennifer O'Connor, Lucero, Jaymay, Chin Up Chin Up and Owen. He performed at the Austin City Limits Festival and the UK's Give It A Name Festival. Back in his hometown he sold out Maxwell's, The Knitting Factory and Southpaw as well as a weird Hudson River boat cruise series.
Leading up to his eagerly anticipated major label debut, Kevin released several critically acclaimed records; Circle Gets the Square (2001), Make the Clocks Move (2003), and Split The Country, Split The Street (2005).
As Kevin enjoys nothing more than being in a van with his fellow musicians in the dead Êof winter, he'll be kicking off the tour on January 19th, with a headlining gig at NYC's Bowery Ballroom, his first such gig for that venue. ÊOn-stage he'll be joined by the Goddamn Band and on tour with him will be Jealous Girlfriends, AA Bondy, New Frontiers, and Dave Elkins of Mae. In late February Devine will tour Australia, hit SXSW then do a run of west coast dates. Aficionados will be delighted to hear that Kevin will be breaking out a fistful of new songs which he plans on releasing in the 2nd half of 2008.
